Cutting the Rope
Lighting
Notice
that there are little scissor marks every 3 feet on chasing
rope-lighting and every 18 inches on steady burn rope-lighting. Use
a sharp pair of heavy duty scissors or clippers to cut the rope-lighting
at the scissor mark to the desired length.
It
is very important that it is ONLY cut at these
marks. Otherwise, damaged circuit and burned bulb may occur.
The copper wires should be cut neatly to
avoid short circuiting the rope-lighting. |
Connecting the Power Cord
Important: Do not plug into
power source during installation.
The Power Connector should already be
connected to the Power Cord. Push the sharp prongs into the
wires on the rope-lighting.
Tighten the fasteners. Seal with a silicon glue to make sure
it's watertight.

Covering with an
End Cap
Because there are open
wires, it is important that you cover the end opposite the power cord
with an end cap. For extra insulation, seal with silicon glue. |
Using a Controller
A Controller must be used in conjunction with Chasing Rope
Lighting. Simply attach the Rope Lighting to the
Power Cord extending from the Controller like you would
a typical Power Cord.
Functions include: static, chasing,
flashing, alternate chasing/flashing, linear chasing and sound
response. |

Using an Easy
Splice Connector
Similar to the standard Splice Kit (right), slide the shrink
tube over one piece of rope-lighting. Push the prongs of the
connector into both pieces of rope-lighting. Slide the shrink
tubing so that it covers the connection and use a hairdryer to seal. |
Using a Splice Kit
To lengthen or connect two pieces of
rope-lighting, follow the diagram above. Again, the sharp
prongs plug into the rope-lighting, and then dull prongs plug into the
female ends inside the connector. |

|
Using a T-Connector
To connect three pieces
of rope-lighting into a right angle, use a T-Connector. |
Using a Y-Cord
Two pieces of
rope-lighting can be connected to one power source by using a
Y-Cord. Follow the instructions above as you would to connect each
piece to a single power cord. |

Using Mounting
Clips
When attaching Rope Lighting to a flat surface, mount the Clip
to the board with a screw. Then place the Rope Lighting into
the clips. On a typical application, you will use
approximately one Clip every 6". |
Mounting to a Rod
Use wire ties when mounting rope-lighting to a steel rod. |
